Brooklyn State of Mind: Robins Call Press Conference On Free Agent Filing Night (2054.1)

Post by lordtoffee » Thu Feb 09, 2023 3:25 pm

Welcome back to WFAN Radio here in New York City. The Islanders lost last night to the Kraken on the Island, the Knicks are getting ready to host the Sixers tonight at the Garden, and rumors are swirling that the Big East might be expanding further in the latest wave of conference realignment. But we start this hour with a press release that has been sent out by the Robins. It is Free Agency Filing Day in the BBA, and the Robins are coming off a season where they finished last in the Atlantic yet again. The press conference was announced within the last hour, and was sent to all the major media outlets in the Robins viewing area.

"The Brooklyn Robins have scheduled a press conference tonight where the Chief Baseball Officer and GM Ben Heuring will be available to the media. The press conference will take place at Ebbets Field in the media room, and we will issue no further comment."

Look, I don't know what that means. Rumors have been swirling that the Robins made a trade, and that the rumored "Playoff Locked In Watch Party" among Robins executives every night of the playoffs at various delis around Brooklyn have been bandied about that this offseason might be interesting. When reached for comment earlier, Heuring said "You'll see later on."

Wonder if the Kraken are still in Seattle in 2054. And if they won the cup in 22/23!

The Kraken are still in Seattle, and won the cup sometime in the late 2030s while being coached by Sidney Crosby.

Actually not out of the realm of possibility if Ron is still their GM after Crosby finally retires.

But I'm mostly here to say the Big East is going to be lucky to exist in 2033, let alone 2053!
