Brooklyn State of Mind: Robins Finish Awful Season (2051.5)

Despite the best efforts of everyone associated with the Robins, this has been rock bottom. The worst record in the league and the horrors of picking first in next BBA draft. Needless to say, if this was a tunnel the light at the end of the tunnel is a train. But there were some signs of promise in Brooklyn. The farm system jumped up to the middle of the pack, and Emilio Morales Jr. had a good start to the season in Rookie ball, with the aim of getting him up to A ball and pushing towards AA ball next year. Attendance continued to rise despite the bad record thanks to lowering ticket prices, and some accounting is planned to allow the Robins to spend some more money given that some salaries are going to be coming off the books and payroll should increase.

But all of this is just steps in the right direction. As noted football writer Vic Ketchman famously said "It's players, not plays." Nobody pays money to see the front office do their thing. They pay for players. And for Brooklyn, what matters is starting to put the building blocks in place to increase that Fan Interest and get the ship back in the right direction.
