It's been no secret that the Robins have been in a deep financial hole. As longtime GMs in the league will often say, the BBA is very much a financial league as well as a baseball league. And thanks to a source in the Robins financial department, we have a look at some of the books. What those books tell us will paint an interesting picture.
The average ticket price to get into McDermott Park at Ebbetts Field is 15 dollars. That's like a meal at Red Lobster, and is dirt cheap compared to all of the entertainment options in New York City and the surrounding area. In 2050, the average get in price was 20 dollars, so that is a savings of 25%, which is still less than the Robins win rate. I don't have a ton of knowledge about how that compares to other BBA organizations, but that's created a ton of value, and the fans are responding.
Attendance is up by close to 8,000 fans, and 3,000 more people have elected to join the season ticketholder family. Per game revenue is going up by 50 grand, and the Robins are slowly getting towards the black for money that can be converted into more room to be able to spend to the salary cap, which is part one of the plan to rebuild the Robins into contenders.
