The Robins made the first of what might be a few deals with the Vancouver Mounties. It was a straightforward closer swap, with Juan Pinto joining the club in exchange for Jose Ordonez. The reasoning behind this swap was to help Vancouver get some bullpen help and for the Robins to get a player with the same level of popularity, and to get someone to help mentor some of the younger players on the team. Pinto of course is a BBA champion with the Sluggers, and feels confident about coming to New York City.
"I'm excited to come to Brooklyn. The Robins are a franchise that is trying to rebuild, and this is a great chance to pursue a new challenge. My goal to help change the culture of the team over the time I am here. My family and I do find this to be a great chance to try something new. A change of scenery is good, and while I enjoyed my time out in Vancouver, this fresh start can only help me."
