After another losing season in Brooklyn, the Robins fans are wondering what is going to happen in the offseason. Reports are that the front office is going to take a long look at the free agent market. With prospects like Arnold Cantrell making their way up into the majors as part of a top 10 farm system as rated by Baseball America, the Robins also have a huge advantage over some other teams. With a lot of bad contracts coming off the books in the offseason, the Robins have nearly 40 million in cap space to play with, as well as some cash to supplement revenues if needed. All of this space means that President of Baseball Operations Ben Heuring could be able to be aggressive on getting back into contention if he wants to turbocharge the rebuild.
When this topic was discussed on the popular forum "Big Apple Baseball', users were split. Mostly they wanted the GM gone and calling for the return of Alan Ehlers. Ownership has indicated that the baseball operations structure will stay in place, and they are expecting better in the offseason. Other users were busy photoshopping Robins jerseys on prominent free agents. We shall see if the Robins are active, but it won't be a quiet offseason.
