With the Robins looking to slowly start improving after a disaster of a 2047 season, President of Baseball Operations Ben Heuring went out shopping for a center fielder to try and replace a certain likely departure in free agency. Gilberto Falchonelli signed a pact with the Robins, and will be making $6 million per year over the next 5 seasons, with a player option at the end of the contract. The Robins should be a bit better, especially if they get a comp pick or two in free agency this year combined with a high draft pick coming down the pipe to improve the farm system. There are some that are wondering why not resign a certain free agent, but there are reasons why, as the President of Baseball Operations said in the press conference in Flatbush.
"I'm glad to sign Gilberto, as he can be a good addition to the team. The salary made sense, and despite the fact that a departure is coming, we have to be honest with each other. We're going to be trending towards a different Robins team, and it's probably not going to be pretty. But we still will attempt to improve the team, and build up that fan interest and excitement that a day at the ballpark brings to our great fans. Gilberto should be great for us, and I hope to make a couple of more moves."
