The Robins may have had a bad year on the fields of Brooklyn, but there were other players doing well below the Show. The Robins front office has started a program where they offer discounts on tickets to games in Brooklyn if fans are willing to travel to see the minor league teams. The idea is so that the fans get a closer connection to the prospects, as well as getting to see what the team is going to look like in the future. It's thinking like this that helps the team and ownership would be willing to share it at the upcoming winter meetings later on in the offseason. Speaking of the minors, it is time to announce the position player of the year in the Robin farm system.
The choice is RF Tommy Bailey , who of course was acquired in the trade deadline deal with Omaha. The front office wanted to get Bailey because he had nice ratings offensively, and graded out as a good defender. A former first round pick by Omaha, Bailey was assigned to AAA San Francisco, and hit over .300 in his time with the team. It is an open question if Bailey will be getting an invite to spring training, but sources have indicated that we should go on the 40 man roster to avoid being exposed in the Rule V draft.
