Brooklyn State of Mind: Robins Bounce Back (2043.3)

Post by lordtoffee » Tue Jun 16, 2020 10:00 pm

After a disappointing first series at home against Charm City, the Robins took 2 of 3 in Rockville against the Pikemen and the first 2 down in Florida against the Hurricanes. New GM Ben Heuring was all smiles as he was eating at a local Publix for dinner after the game. Heuring said "Winning on the road is always a good thing, especially against our Atlantic foes." When asked about his throwback to last year's Cartwright tilt against the Jackrabbits, Heuring said "Just call it us trying to do something different, and to see if it would work. The good news is that we have adjusted, and the pitching has really paced us on this road trip."

Of course, the real star of the pitching staff is Pierre Legrand. Legrand has won both of his starts this year, and only allowed 1 earned run combined in his two starts. His performances have been key to Brooklyn winning, and the express reason that he is here is to headline the staff and start the big games that Brooklyn expects. Another star of the road trip has been third basemen Nico Eijpe. Nico has always been known as a power hitter, but Heuring has been impressed with his approach so far this year. "Nico has really been working on improving his batting average over the offseason. I love his trendline so far in striking out less. He is going to be a key for us down the stretch."

After finishing up the series with Jacksonville tomorrow, the Robins will take their first cracks at the Frontier with games on the road against the Boise Spuds and Phoenix Talons. It should be fun to see how the Robins stack up out there, and Heuring can try the famous sushi that is sold by the Talons.

Just make sure they don’t try to jack up the price for visitors to $4 ... they’ve gotta pay Smith’s contract somehow!
