Journeyman Outfielder asks....Who's fly'in this plane?

Jack Bullock just returned to the Brooklyn Robins DFA waiting room. The room has been jam packed for months now with fellow journeyman and AAAA prospects awaiting their chance to play for the punk rock spectacle known as the 2038 Robins. Brooklyn is admittedly in the early stages of a lengthy rebuild. Unlike most teams who throw in the towel and play for draft position, Brooklyn wants to wins much as they can with whatever players they can find hidden beneath the seat cushions. It sounds like something easier said then done. But lookup the 2032 Robins. That team was just as talent starved as this squad, yet they managed to finish .500 and damn near make the playoffs.

"I'm just happy to be back with a major league caliber team", said Bullock. "Wichita is not a BBA city. Hopefully the league allows them back into the expansion draft in two years. Lord knows they need a second shot."

By major league caliber team, Bullock was talking about the San Francisco Doves. That is the AAA affiliate of the Robins and likely landing spot for the 26 year old outfielder prone to losing easy flyballs in the sun.

"San Fran is an awesome city and the Doves a great team. I bet if they were in the BBA's Sunbelt, they'd finished in 5th place at least. Definitely a better team then the pilotless Aviators."

Bullock is no lock for the Doves though either. That squad is currently 10-3 and possess the best record in the Rupert Horn. Incremental improvements and stockpiling of fringe BBA talent is pushing out the old guard in San Francisco. So even though Bullock is relatively young, somewhat decent, and performed ok in AAA for the Doves last season, he is far from assured a spot on the roster.

The Doves outfield/DH currently comprises BBA veterans John Cochran, Dave Brunskill, Felix Duarte, Hector Valentin, as well as versatile utilityman Dale Maxwell. Due to incoming waiver claims, current Robins cleanup hitter Jose Garcia has just been sent down also. There could be others entering the mix as well. Scott Hoover and Enrique Gomez are still locked in the purgatory(DFA). It's rumored that those two may hit the waiver wire again in hopes that Brooklyn can stash them in the minors. We'll see how that goes.
