2037.2 The Finale

(Brooklyn's all or nothing season inspired by fate )

We've been talking about this for quite some time now. And while there was some consideration into extending the window. It is now 100% confirmed that the Brooklyn Robins will dismantle the current squad piece by piece after the conclusion of the 2037 season.

On the surface it was a plan born out of necessity. The Robins late 2020-early 2030's rebuild was not going as planned. Expansion had pushed them back several draft spots, some top picks didn't pan out, and the team never took financials seriously. By the 2035 season the team was stocked to the brim with marginal BBA players at every level but lacked the star power and financial resources to get the job done.

The smart move would have been to adjust on the fly, make "turn back the clock" trades and be ready to compete in a couple of seasons. But having never done a large scale rebuild before, and having the opportunity to do things totally by the book and building a juggernaut seemed very intriguing. The plan was put in place to totally destroy the teams finances by taking on contracts that most would avoid like the plague, and add as many stars as we could for a couple of season. Take our best shot, then blow up the team. Being so far in the red would give the rebuild many seasons of temptation free soiling.

One thing that may have gotten lost in the shuffle is the significance of 37. Upon joining the BBA as a part of the Brussels Eagles of the now defunct EBA. GM Alan Ehlers didn't really want to be a part of the BBA. He was more then happy playing in the smaller landscape of the EBA. In fact there was a contest held to see who could write the most team news to win a BBA team. Ehlers specifically made sure not to stand out because he didn't want to go. Shortly after the contest another team opened up and there was an unsolicited note from the commish stating that he was appoint GM of the Brooklyn Robins.

As the disgruntled GM began to compose his resignation notice, he typed in the name Brooklyn Robins and a light bulb went on. See, his mother was named Robin and she was born in Brooklyn. She had passed away in 2015 about a year before he joined the league. Maybe it was meant to be. Upon further inspection, the Robins team news forum is technically forum #37 in the generic non labeled version of the site. 37 was the number of the race car that his father drove before he died in the mid 90's... at St Vincents Medical Center in Staten Island.... literally 3,000 ft across the Verrazano bridge to Brooklyn.

The connections were just too earie to ignore. So the GM deleted the resignation notice and took on the team. When he took over on June first of 2026, the team had the worst record in the entire BBA. Before the season was over, they'd be hoisting the Landis Trophy in the air. Was the team really supposed to win it all or was this just some crazy supernatural example of fate?

So here we are in 2037. The number 37 strikes again. A number that has served lucky to the GM. Are the Robins the best team in the BBA? Nope. They are however, better then most think they are. They nearly snuck into the Landis in 2035 before an injury plagued 2036 kept them in check. Long term this team is a dumpster fire. But if you look at this individual stitch in time, the team is very good. The Brooklyn Robins will do everthing in their power to win the Landis on this very special season. But win or lose. We are dousing the house with kerosene and taking a lighter to it in October. Cut scene... finale.
