Brooklyn State of Mind: Heuring Admits Defeat (2049.4)

Post by lordtoffee » Fri Jan 21, 2022 8:49 pm

Despite attempts to be competitive by going after popular players to increase the fan interest and get more butts into seats in the Big Apple, sources close to the team can confirm to the Brooklyn Eagle that Robins GM Ben Heuring has instructed his staff to get ready to start a teardown that might have needed to happen after he mortgaged the future a few years back to get over the top in the Johnson League. Those sources have confirmed that after a meeting with the ownership group and his assistants, the GM decided that it was best to begin changing the face of the Robins.

While that means that some talented Robins will have to move on, it isn't like it is a surprise. Vega, Kondo, and others have been rumored in trade talks, and with multiple teams in each league looking for a piece that could take them over the top, that means that Heuring is going to likely get some offers. While it goes against his better judgement as a GM that wants to always attempt to sign players to show that he is serious about competition. Heuring has been open in the past that he knows that he doesn't want to pull a Pohlad. That refers to the Minnesota Twins of the fictional MLB. In that alternative universe, the Pohlad's are notoriously cheap owners that seem content to maximize profit over winning, which has infuriated fans.
