As if adding all those Marlins and $40m + in salary wasn't enough.. Jays just signed roid man Melky Cabrera... 2 years/$16m total. American League East is going to be interesting next year....

agreed. However, it is a nice change to see such a rich team start spending some money. Can't win unless you take a chance.

The Jays young arms will still make or break their season.

What young arms? They are all hurt. Drabek, Perez, and Hutchison probably won't pitch at all this year.

Current rotation: Morrow, Johnson, Buehrle, Romero, Happ
Pen: Santos, Janssen, Oliver, Delabar, Lincoln, Cecil, Loup.

I guess it depends on your version of young. Morrow and Romero have been around a while now, but still fairly young I guess.

I guess I still think of them as young, even if they've been around forever.
It doesnt matter if you have two good starters, you need 5+.

Still want Buehrle to return to the Southside, this is a tragedy 8)

He would have been the perfect addition for Milwaukee, a veteran workhorse lefty.

John Gibbons hired as manager

Well, that came out of nowhere.

Weird...started as a bullpen catcher, (hired after being then GM Riccardi's college roommate) for the Jays, then he worked his way up to first base coach. I guess the logical deduction is that he was JP's spy or inner ear on the Jays, and then he actually replaced manager Tosca when he got fired as Jay's manager.

And now AA has hired him as manager...

I dunno what I think - plus he's a former Met- ick...and he even coached for the Royals..you know he learned nothing there...

Ya, who saw this one coming. AA was here when JP hired him to manage though. So he knows him well. He is supposed to be a real players manager who doesn't put up with too much BS. I think that part is good as there wasn't much accountability under Farrell.

So you're saying his hiring on the day that the Reyes to Toronto trade was officially accepted by the league is no coincidence then? ;)

I'm glad to see the Jays making these moves. I'll always have a soft spot for them after they allowed me the absolute priviledge of watching Doc on the mound for the Phils.

It'll be fun to watch Toronto fall flat on their face and finish 4th or 5th again this year.

Oh Matt...why such a hater?? lol Don't be jealous...

Their lineup will be one of the better ones in the AL. Their top 3 in the rotation matches up with anyone. Johnson, Morrow (a 2.91 ERA pitching in the AL East??? c'mon) and Buehrle. Their remade pen is actually very good. They fall a little short in rotation depth. If Romero rebounds to his old form, then they have a pretty good rotation when healthy. They just need some depth there.

An injury or two and they're going to drop out of it. Too competitive.

Yep. Agreed. Although it'll be interesting to see if they add anything else.

I can't root against the O's or Rays. I'll root against the Yankees all day, though.

Rotation is looking pretty good now with the addition of Dickey.
