Quit on the Sox... now Miami implodes. That dude should be coaching 3rd somewhere in the minors. Preferably A ball.

Let me clarify. Some guy posted on social media that they did. I'm spreading rumors.

But it would be fun!

Yeah, not true.

Since they owe Guillen 3 years worth of money they'll hire someone cheap. Some names I've heard are:
Mike Redmond, Brad Ausmus, Sandy Alomar, Jr., Mike Lowell, Luis Sojo

Brad Ausmus would be a brilliant choice.
I really really wanted the Red Sox to hire him.
I have a friend in the Red Sox front office and he told me Ausmus was brilliant in his interview but that he had no chance so long as a deal could be worked out for Farrell.
Farrell is a good choice, but it's boring. Ausmus would have been exciting.

Then again, anyone would be an improvement over Valentine. That hiring was a horrible decision. That said, almost none of the disastrous season could be blamed on Valentine.

I remember when Bobby Valentine was the Rangers manager. Guy couldn't wait to leave Texas and get back to New York. Which most Texas natives like myself wish all New Yonkers and even all northerners would do. And a northerner, aka, a (damm) Yankee is anybody from north of the Red River. ;) This is all tongue in cheek, except the part about Valentine and also Yankees fans from NY.

The Red River is the northern border of Texas.

Still, I ain't happy that the ball park in Arlington has no dome. There is no fun sitting in 105° sun watching a game.

Is your friend Bill James?

I heard Fidel Castro was really broken up about this. He figured he had season tickets for the rest of his life.

Brad Ausmus will succeed Jim Leyland as manager of the Tigs, whenever that happens. He will then be traded to and from Houston three separate times. Then he'll leave to manage the Dodgers.

:headscratch:

Nope.
My friend is a middle manager and IT guy, but he got to sit in (quietly) on the manager interviews. He worked for me years ago when he was still a programmer. He won't tell me much except that everyone liked Ausmus a lot.

I figured. What's not to like? Ausmus will be a fantastic major league manager. A former catcher, smartest guy in the room, yet everyone likes him.
