MLB in London

Post by jleddy » Sat Jun 29, 2019 12:10 pm

Anyone watching the game(s)?

They just showed the field dimensions and I thought it was interesting given some of the Brewster's parks. 330' down both lines, 385' to center (shorter than any MLB stadium), and I believe they said an acre of foul territory (more than any MLB stadium, even Oakland.)

Go Sox!

I really wanted to go to that but unfortunately a) I was already booked to be away for the week and b) it cost a frigging fortune with the cheapest seats being around £80-100 which is too rich for me

Yeah, figured the tickets were going to be astronomical.

6-6 and still in the 1st inning! This crowd hasn't seen this much offense since Paolo Di Canio was a Hammer.

If I hadn’t have been already booked for cricket in Scarborough I might have bitten the bullet but the double whammy of booking and unbooking would have run into 3 to 4 hundred pound, so . . .

They should really start up an MLB Europe league. The problem isn't getting fans, they certainly would. The problem is that most of the stadiums in Europe don't really work for baseball.

we wouldn't be that intelligent, we're the ones that sit in an open field for five days watching nothing but rain sodden grass because the cricket field is open lol

You'll be getting a lot more summer than you wished for the rate things are going.

Because NFL Europe worked so well?

I don't see it working. Europe needs to first continue to grow it's talent and focus on youth academies. I personally think a professional league that can thrive and not just exist for a few years is still decades away.
