Attendance

Post by Shugi » Thu May 12, 2011 5:59 pm

I was just quickly taking a look at the Mets vs. Colorado game on MLB.tv, and was astonished how many empty seats i saw. Stadium looks like its only 20% filled. A Rockies problem, or is the whole MLB (maybe beside the really big teams) struggling with not enough paying visitors?

http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance
The Rockies are averaging over 33,000 per game this year. 67% of capacity.
Cleveland is a surprise averaging only 14,400 with the best record in the AL.

Thx for the link!
Found an interesting article http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/03/sport ... .html?_r=1 which suggest attendance i voerall a bit down due to weather and Mets & Dodgers troubles. But it also says there
And the Colorado Rockies, who are in first place, have sold 19.8 percent more tickets so far.
Well, must be the eather then there - was just astonishing to see that many empty seats.

It's a day getaway game that had a rain delay I believe... Not many teams can fill the park for those games.
