Nova v. Creighton - Almost an SVP Bad Beat

Post by mikeb41 » Wed Feb 06, 2019 9:31 pm

I always feel like I get hosed by Overtime when I play a game.

Had Creighton +9 against Nova. Entire Game, Creighton is in it. Worst trail was 4 points with 8 minutes left, but they quickly brought it to within 2. Creighton was with them the entire game.

Seems like a solid stress free W right?

Creighton *winning* by 3 with 4 mins left.

Nothing happens for 2 minutes... remember I am getting 9.

Nova goes down by 1 with 2 mins left. Now I'm nervous because OT seems like destiny and can Creighton hang with Nova in OT or will they run out of gas?

Back and forth exchange 1 point plays til Nova takes 1 point lead then Creighton ties it with 37 seconds...

Then NOTHING for 37 seconds. No points on either side. We go to OT.

With ten SECONDS left in OT, Nova goes up 10 64-54, so I am now losing by 1 point a play I had locked in sweat free with minutes left.

Creighton hits a THREE with 3 seconds left...

Creighton fouls immediately and Nova hits 2 free throws to bring it to the magic number of 9...

1 second left in the game Kaleb Joseph of Creighton makes a meaningless two point jumper from inside the paint.

Nova wins by 7. I cash it.

Good Wins > Bad Beats.

The gods got me back with a Hornets lost by 6 when I had +5.5, but still managed to hit my weekly quota by the end of the night so no need to stress Thurs-Sun.

Stuff like this is why I can’t quite make myself put real money down. Haha

I run an NFL pool where we pick 5 games a week. About 20 of us and winner takes the pot. The good/bad beats during the season are crazy.

Went to Vegas last year for the first time and bet a few nba games. Bet small parlays all week and always hit 2 of 3 or 3 of 4. Could never cash. Lost one bet on a meaningless jumper at the end that covered.

But with that said, I’m hoping Virginia or Tennessee legalizes sports gambling soon. I’ll start putting real money down at that point I’m sure.
