I suppose the current version is better than the hipster 90's and early 2000 oscars where if you've heard of it, it couldn't win.
I know I'm digging in here. Sorry in advance. But are you saying you haven't even heard of at least a majority of these films?

I'll stop here. :)

Let's just leave it at: dealing with social change is hard in a lot of ways. Art has a great tendency to reflect humanity. Which creates lots of feedback loops that affect us all in several ways.

Dig in all you want. When my hyperbole bites me in the ass, I have to deal with it. Frankly, I remember a lot more "what the hell?" reactions than this list would make me think. Weird. Strange how the human memory fails us.

I think this is really fair. Again, please no one interpret my comments as against the much needed change in this country. Dealing with it often brings to light the uglier and more problematic parts of human nature. I am, at heart, the type of person who reacts to adversity with apprehension, rather than seeing it as opportunity. I'm programmed to see the bad before the good. I don't necessarily like that about myself, but caution has served me well in the past, and it's tough to fight instinct.

I suggest that human tendency toward hyperbole is what you're seeing in people who want someone younger than Bernie. At the end of the day, I'd fully expect that those same people would vote for Bernie over Trump if/when it came to it.

the box office numbers were over $1 billion for The Incredibles compared to quite a bit lower(not sure the actual number) for Spiderman. It was quite an upset for me in my head based on how popular the movies were.
Incredibles did gross more (consider it the "I must take all my kids to see it" factor?), but Spiderverse still grossed well, and when you look at both critic and movie-going public ratings Spiderverse was either equal, better, or quite considerably better received (depending on which score system you used). Given that Spiderverse beat out Incredibles--and Ralph--for the Golden Globe (which is more about the general public than the industry itself), it wasn't a huge surprise to me when it also won the Oscar.
