Carmelo Anthony is Bad

So this is fairly off topic I suppose, but I need people to talk to about this. So Anthony will be a free agent. And already there are about a billion takes on how he is a desirable commodity to a bunch of teams.

No. This is just bullshit. Anyone who is making this case just outed themselves as having absolutely no clue what they are talking about. The dude is not good for a basketball team. He is a one dimensional ball stopping no defense playing cancer to a team. The Nuggets were only good with him because they could ride his scoring abiltiy while he was young by surrounding him with good defending role players, and even they topped out as a playoff also ran. The Knicks are no better than when he went there. He was garbage last year in OKC. Why would anyone want him? He's not good for team basketball. Period. End of story. Everyone knows this.

Are basketball franchises just run this poorly? Do teams actually think he can help? Or do "analysts" just think we're all that stupid? He's going to be a free agent because only an idiot would pay the 100 million in salary taxes the Thunder would have to to keep him. It's such a no brainer to just let him go that there has been no one saying that maybe they should keep him.

For all of you wondering why I even are about the NBA, well, basketball is the sport I play, and it is the highest level of competition in that sport. (College basketball is a joke since the one and done stuff made it impossible to build a talented, cohesive team. Don't even get me started.) I'm not really happy about they way they play it, but the NBA is the best I have.

Anyway, what the fuck? He's bad for basketball teams. He offers negative value. Why won't anyone say this? Rant over.

mostly I agree with you, although he has shown in the Olympics that he is capable of being a team oriented player and a mismatch nightmare in short spurts, but for a full 82 game season im not sure he is capable of doing that.

This wasn't so much of a criticism of his character or what he "Can be" rather than what he is or wants to be. He always wants to be a first tier scoring option. He plays a style of basketball that does not mesh well with today's nba offenses. He demonstrated last year when he was the 5th or 6th best player on his team that his has no idea that he just isn't that good anymore. Bringing him in can do nothing but hurt a team. Understand me please, I don't think badly of players who don't understand that they aren't the best. Part of what makes people get to the highest level is an unfailing belief in one's self. Sometimes though, that belief is just wrong.

what is the consensus in Milwaukee on Jabari Parker? I think he could be a solid NBA player, but he is never going to be the superstar he was projected to be out of HS.

I really cant stand the NBA. Can still deal with college ball - at least the players arent the ones truly running the show there. Cant blame the one-and-doners, they are playing within the rules that are set by others. Go ahead and get paid when you can. (I also think college players should be paid but that's another story.) Melo has always been a scorer and nothing else. He's a highly paid role player that has a big name. But, big names sell tickets and that's part of the equation too. That's why all those fans on the boards are clamoring for him....they'll be the ones buying more tickets.

Agree, I've always ripped Anthony for the reasons you've stated. Put numbers up in the role he played before OKC, but not sure he's conducive to helping a team be a true contender given his limitations.

I desperately hope he doesn't end up in LA. I think LeBron Lakers could be good. I'd like to see either Houston or LA unseat Golden State just for the sake of variety. Carmelo going to La doesn't help that. He's a net negative as a player.

I agree. I am not sure what the big fuss is here. He is not the offensive player he once was and that is all he ever was. I do think he ends up in LA with Lebron. I have seen some rumors of him going to the Nuggets again or even to the TWolves and being from Minnesota and seeing them actually put something somewhat decent together last year, I am hoping he does not end up in Minnesota. If I had to guess I would say he ends up next to Lebron or maybe even in Houston. Regardless he should be coming in off the bench as a offensive role player and a player who can thrive with a mismatch.

He's a perfect addition for a stealth tanking team. Still a big enough name to sell tickets to casual fans while his low effeciency hero ball offense and turn style defense consistently rack up the Ls.
