Bio: Bob Ritchie grew up the son of a wealthy car dealer in suburban Detroit. He followed Detroit pro sports fervently, but also developed a passion for both Rock and Rap music. He likes to pretend hes from a trailer park, or some other such poor "white trash" background, but he really grew up living on an Apple Orchard. That's how he developed his arm, constantly pitching apples. His long hair and altogether dirty, strange look makes for a somewhat intimidating package on the mound, despite his scrawny frame. Like many relievers, he has that "Wild Thing" type of personality. He plays hard, but he lives hard, too. Has fallen back on baseball after his first love and dream, a music career, fell flat.

Bio: Screech Powers has made an amazing transition from Bayside High School class nerd to hopeful professional baseball player. He has his friends Zack Morris and A.C Slater to thank for turning his life's destiny around. They were able to finally convince the nerd that he would have a much better shot with the women he obsessives over as an athlete of some kind. Luckily, the lanky kid was found to be a "natural" at the game of baseball, playing on the Bayside team, and showing surprising speed, a decent glove, and a sharp eye at the plate, but very little power. He retains his nerdy demeanor socially, though it hides a keen intelligence for the game that was groomed through his obsessions with Chess and the Sciences. At only 18 years old, Screech has decided to pursue pro baseball directly out of high school, rather than attend college, as he was rejected from attending a women's-only school, which was his first choice.

At the risk of irritating some people who are working hard to create amateurs, are we perhaps going a little overboard on the celebrities? I'd like to see some more made up people. I get the feeling that it's players like the Nebraska brothers that make this league great, not having N*Sync in your infield. In my opinion, a few celebrities (1 to 3) is cool in any given year, but I don't want this league to become an IMDB database.

Yeah, maybe a limit on them. Certanly no more than 1 per person of "real" people.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. Are you saying that people can create one each of the three categories? If so, I prefer Recte's suggestion. I think people could create all the players they want, just limit it to one player total from among the above three choices and use your creativity to make up the rest.

I'm not irritated, but I suppose I was of the mind that this league had quite a few "real" people in it since my team had at least 3, and maybe more. But I tried to select guys that were more or less b-list style celebs, kinda under the radar, at least in the cases of Screech and Boston Rob.

Maybe Kid Rock is too high profile, but no more so that Tim McGraw - though I do get his real-life connection to baseball. Kid Rock is a big Tiger fan, which is well known in Detroit.

Honestly, I haven't looked over the other teams in depth, other than spotting Rob Dibble somewhere.

I'm also not really educated on some of the league's history and/or mythology with these made-up players...like the Nebraskas.

Being new, I'm just kinda trying to feel my way along and contribute where I can.

edit: My apologies as well, because when I made Screech, I had no idea that Zack Morris, aka This Guy, was already on the roster of my AAA team. I never would have created him had I seen that.

You didn't do anything wrong, c-mitch and like you've noticed there are many guys already in there like you created. Some of us (hopefully a growing number) are trying to redirect these custom guys more towards truly made-up players rather than the past influx of real life non-baseball people that I think has added an air of ridiculousness to the league.

Still too many. That's potentially 24 celebrities per season.
