PP Reward: The Basics

Post by recte44 » Sat Oct 23, 2010 10:45 pm

Participation Point Measuring:
-The Participation Point "Season" is marked by the Landis Memorial Series. When the LMS ends, so does the current Participation Point "Season".
-PP Counts will take place several times throughout the season, as follows:
1) End of Offseason, Before Opening Day Sim
2) After All-Star Sim ("Midseason Count")
3) After September Roster Expansion Sim
4) After Landis Memorial Series ("Final Count")

Positive PPT Impacts:
- League Relevant Polls: 1 PPT if 5-10 votes, 2 PPTs if 11+
- Team News: 2 PPT
- Player Spotlights: 3 PPT
- Recurring Feature (a series that appears after each sim or so): 3 PPT
- League Features (significant writing): 4 PPT
- Recruit a new GM that stays (in good standing) for at least one full season: 10 PPT

Negative PPT Impacts
- Mandatory league vote missed with no notification: -2 PPTs, -2 Fan Interest

PP Minimum (effective 1998 season):
- Each GM must earn 15 PP per season, with a minimum of 4 of those coming from Team News.
- Each GM must have at least 2 PP by the "Midseason Count" or face removal from the league.

Exports (effective 1998 season, added stadium reward for 2000 season):
We will no longer focus on the negative (Missed Exports) but rather on the positive.
- Each successful export will result in .25 PP.

Forum Activity Rewards (effective 1998 season, added stadium reward for 2000 season):
Success of the community and motivation to write articles often hinges on the number of reads and responses that work receives. We want to encourage our community members to reply to and discuss content. With that, we will offer rewards for post counts during a Participation Point Season, as follows:
- 50 posts= +2 PP
- 100 posts= +4 PP
- 150 posts= +8 PP
- 200 posts= +12 PP
- 300 posts= +15 PP

"New" Way to be Active; Twitter! (effective 1998 season):
As we get older and more involved with our life, it becomes harder and harder to make time for the writing we used to do. With that, we are introducing a different way to approach the problem of lessened time and heightened technology. This way is the use of Twitter to "tweet" short snippets about your team, a player, a thought you had instantly and without having to sit down to write a long article. Writing is NOT for everyone, but participating HAS to be....so for those of you who "aren't writers", this is a great way to be an active participant without it feeling like a chore. (Please use the hashtag #brewster with each league tweet.)
- Each Tweet = .25 PP

Participation Point Inheritance (effective 1997 season):
Beginning in the 1997 season, when a GM quits or is fired from the league, 1/2 of his Participation Point total will be transferred to the incoming General Manager. The outgoing GM will retain the other 1/2 of his earned Participation Point total in case he returns in the future, however they will only be saved for two seasons after he leaves the league.

Redeeming Participation Points:
- Participation Points can be redeemed in a number of ways. To redeem PPTs, you must post a thread in this forum indicating how you would like to redeem your points.
- Participation Points can only be spent from after the Landis Memorial Series is over until the Spring Training Sim (offseason, in other words).

Buying Cash with Participation Points:
- A GM can "buy cash" with their earned Participation Points.
- 10 PP= $1,000,000
- You can only get a maximum of $20,000,000 per season.
- You cannot exceed our Cash Maximum.

Converting Cash to Budget:
- A GM can "convert cash to budget" with their earned Participation Points.
- 10 PP= $10,000,000
- You can only convert a maximum of $30,000,000 per season.
- Your budget cannot exceed $120,000,000.

Player Popularity Reward:
- A GM can increase a player's National and Local Popularity one level by spending 10 PP.

Rebranding:
- A GM may change their Logo.
- Rebranding: 30 PPTs
- This results in a +3 Fan Interest (max 85).
- Rebranding can only be done once every 5 seasons, and must be approved by the Governing Board.
- In order to use this reward you must have been a league GM in good standing for at least two seasons; or have direct permission of the Commissioner based on his sole discretion.

Change Minor League Affiliate Details
– Must be approved by the Commissioner
- Must have logo, cap logo, and jersey provided
- Must have new stadium specs provided, Commissioner must approve said stadium specs
- Will cost 10 PP + an article on the changes to alter details of one of your minor league affiliates

Change Ownership
- Must be approved by the Commissioner.
– Will cost 20 PP + an article on new ownership. You must submit new details for your team’s owner, including name, nickname, date/location of birth, nationality, height/weight and a new picture.
- Your new owner's Patience and Spending traits can be determined through the following outline:
- You will have 4 "points" to assign to your new owner. Each new owner is automatically set at the middle of the road on "spending" and "patience". Move him up or down a level in any combination of the two categories with your 4 "points".
- This reward may be utilized once every five seasons.
- New General Managers may select this reward during their first off-season with the league regardless of when the team last changed owners.

Add Nickname
– Must be approved by the Commissioner, please use good taste.
- Will cost 5 PP + an article explaining the new nickname. You may add a nickname to any one player, Team Personnel member, or Owner.

Improve Personnel
– GMs may improve the rating in any category of any personnel within their organization.
- GM will ask for their current rating in any two categories.
- Will then cost 10 PP to improve one category by 10 points on the internal scale.

Convert Retired Player to Personnel
– Will cost 10 PP + an article explaining the new role to convert a retired player into a coach or Scouting Director for your organization.
- GMs must specify what kind of coach (Manager, Bench, Hitting, Pitching) they want the converted player to become. They will be improved automatically by 20 points in the corresponding categories that apply most significantly to their new coaching role.

Nice, new changes. "I like it." :pickles:

1. Is there a possibility a new Gm who fulfills the criteria could also receive 10 PPTS--like many refer-a-person-to-work programs in real life?

Re: Buying Cash:
2. What is "our Cash Maximum"?

1. Sure.

2. Well, the $0 thing didn't work like I thought it was supposed to, obviously, so it's $100 million (same as the salary cap).

I'm working on the Constitution update as a whole, going to put all of these things into one document so they aren't so scattered.

Are personnel ratings on the same kind of 250 points scale that players are? I've never played around with it.

It would kind of suck to turn a favorite player into personnel and have OOTP give them horrible ratings like it so often does. Would it be possible to have a player's basic ratings be average? For example, if Ted Sale retires, and I want to turn him into a hitting coach, have OOTP create his ratings, but his "Teach Batting" rating will be no less than "Decent," "OK," or whatever average is. Then, you can spend the points you are given to make him better than average if you wish or improve his other areas if they aren't good.

For those of us who actually pay attention to coach ratings and try to put together a great coaching staff, it would be unfortunate to have to give up on a franchise great that you paid to have converted just because OOTP gives him the suck.

I'll give it some thought.....what I'm trying to avoid is the ability to create a "SUPER PERSONNEL" in one season.

Using the combo of "turning a retired player into a coach" and then subsequent years of "improving personnel" would be the solution for this, I think.

That makes sense, but at 20 PP per 10 points, you could have to suffer through a lot of suck until they become decent. I do understand what you are saying, but I think starting them at "average" would not allow for super personnel.

I do foresee a problem, however. There is nothing stopping you from bringing someone in as a manager, getting 240 points to distribute, putting them all on "teach hitting" or "teach pitching" and then putting them in a Hitting or Pitching Coach slot. If you do that, then you have created super personnel.

True, so I'll take another look at this. None of it is "official" until I post the new Constitution.

Now that the new constitution is posted what is the status on the "convert player to coach" issue. Shouldn't we have the same number of points to distribute regardless of whether or not we want them to be a HC/PC or Manager? They may start out as a coach and then later move to a manager so they would still need points in the other areas. Why not give us a set amount of points and then to prevent a Legendary rating in a particular category put a cap that they can't be higher than average or decent. It has probably been answered before but are the coaches on the same 200 point scale as players are for skills?

You mean when during a season?

EDIT: To be specific, after the LMS and up to and including the first Spring Training sim (since no ST games have yet been played). At least that's what's been allowed the last couple of seasons (2004-2005).

Redeeming Participation Points:
{snip}
- Participation Points can only be spent from after the Landis Memorial Series is over until the Spring Training Sim (offseason, in other words).
NOTES:
"Offseason" in the above sentence includes the preseason.
"until the Spring Training sim" means including the first Spring Training sim (Spring Training Sim #1). Again, at least that's what's been allowed the last couple of seasons (2004-2005).

from Participation Ponts: the basics, which is, um, this thread.

Since stadium modification allows a max of 55,000 seats, can I get 5,000 added to our 50,000 seat
stadium, since I did the following:
Exports (effective 1998 season, added stadium reward for 2000 season):
We will no longer focus on the negative (Missed Exports) but rather on the positive.
- Each successful export will result in .25 PP.
- Completion of 16 or more exports (regular season) will result in +1 Fan Interest (up to 90).
- Completion of the "Export Reward" for 5 consecutive seasons results in 5000 seats being added to stadium.
