Hmmmm, Lynchy. I don't get it.

Can we just hand Louisville the title for 1997 right now??? This is like the cherry topping on their free agency sundae.

shhhhhhhh.....

My bullpen's going to be the death of me. As long as we don't lose to Chicago again, I can at least accept it. But yes, we're all in for 1997. Injuries and lumps aside, the core of this team is locked and loaded for quite a while too....

Well, Nolan is starting to have some ratings decline and can't hit left-handed pitching at all. He's been on the block for months, with no bites. Hell, I offered him to guys and no one wanted him. I've always liked Matsumoto and get a prospect, as well.

Plus, I needed to clear the way for my gaggle of young OFers developing in AAA.

Yeah, I couldn't stomach Matsumoto making $8.8 million on the bench for the next three years.

He's got more value on the trade market than he does on my bench, that's for sure. Nolan is only under contract for the next two (instead of three for Matsu), and I do have other OF options if he does fall off a cliff. Moncada doesn't fit into my plans, and I think OOTP rates him higher than he should because of his big Stamina number.

It's interesting on both sides. But saving that $8.8 million two years from now was the real kicker for me. God knows the cost of keeping this team together, and I need every penny.
