I'd like to have gotten more for Rafael but the market just doesn't dictate it these days. Weak drafts have changed expectations for me. Acquiring two depth rotation arms with team control for several years not a bad trade-off in the end I suppose. Fingers crossed they pan out as 4-5 spot rotation spots for several seasons while we continue to build through the draft.

Not big on Guerrer but at least we have more contract control with that contract as opposed to Rafael's.

I thought long and hard on multiple occasions about putting in an offer. He has huge upside and this is a nice buy low. Just felt it was too risky.

His extremely high probability of injury could mean spending 18% of the cap on a player not even in uniform half the season. It's kind of like a hail mary pass. This is probably going to look bad. But if he stays healthy Charm City could win the Landis and it looks like an amazing play.
