Can Moreland's salary be traded? Not trying to stir the pot, just curious if it's logistically possible.

If you can split salaries, why wouldnt we be able to trade them?

MLB (and therefore OOTP) doesn't allow the transaction of retained salary. The NBA has trade exceptions regarding salaries but that's more about adjusting salary cap room by team, not the money owed itself. The NHL is the only league that allows to trade retained contracts and there are a bunch of limitations regarding it. It's been a while since I played FHM but I don't think they even allow that since it's so nuanced and rare.

The workaround would be to send $6.9M in cash.

Doesnt make sense to me. If you can still trade the player when someone else is retaining their salary, you should be able to trade whatever the amount is that is being retained. Seems like just moving salary might be easier but who knows.

If this is actually not possible, then let me know so I can take them off waivers before the sim. I will only have about an hour tomorrow between the time I get home from work and have to leave for softball practice and then I wont be home before the sim.

While we mostly go by MLB rules, we do not necessarily follow them to a tee. Was already thinking about the $6.9M in cash. Would like to make sure the trading of the salary isnt possible first.

as a suggested alternative, maybe have taylor send brett 6.9m to cover the salary difference (if he has that in bonus cash?)

I think part of it is an OOTP thing. Not even sure you can trade retained salary in game.

EDIT: Pretty sure you can't though.

I know, I meant to balance out the cash difference. Nashville would still have the salary on the books for cap purposes but would have the cash to pay it.

Yeah, but I think he wants the cap space over cash.
