Interesting kick-off to the off-season. I think I like this for both teams.

At first I didn't like Des Moines return, but then I realized I'm thinking of the Bunk Moreland I thought should have been traded a couple years ago. Two years older and maybe not quite peak anymore is totally different. Like you said Ron, this could be decent for both teams.

I like Coronado quite a bit. He's a fairly well-developed young ground-baller with good intangibles, and WiIliamson (with the 8 Eye and solid gap) will be more productive than you might think in a utility role. Sanderson can still chuck it right now, and could be flipped later. And Guerra is still on my radar as a guy who might grow again ... he filled the contact bump, now we'll see about power. :) If he doesn't Ed can cut him in a year. Beyond that, Ed can always use cash right now with his low fan interest.

Moreland is a premium hitter, which Randy can always use. But now all his eggs are in one basket. If Moreland lumps much (and he's soon to be 30), this suddenly becomes a huge Des Moines win. His contract isn't bad, though, at $11M...so if Moreland holds his ratings, SFB does fine. Randy's getting to the stage that his budget might be enough to just dump him if he lumps, so his contract risk might be low.

This is the exact thought I had. Last night when I read it I was like... yuck, bad trade. But there are soooo many 1B/DH types out there now. And Bunk is no longer a top 10-20 bat in the league. Last year he was barely even good. He'll probably have a couple of good years mixed in with some bad ones from here on out. By the end of his contract he might even get the Jack Gulliver stigma on him.

Coronado is decent. I'd say if he fully develops, he's somewhere between a good #3 to good #4. Righties with 6 movement and not elite stuff and/or control can be problematic though.
