Re: Vancouver/Halifax
Confirmed. Resetting this thing... Hinson was on the block for a few years and Brett got his guy. Going youth and Kontos should be a good one I Halifax. Let's see what happens. Thanks for the deal!

Re: Vancouver/Halifax
Interesting. Not sure trading away the model teammate and captain is the way to fix a bad clubhouse but you certainly get a great young lefty slugger back in return. Stelio will make or break the trade for Halifax. If he becomes the next Bo Jordan (or close enough to it), this will be a nice trade.

Re: Vancouver/Halifax
The other deal was win-now for HFX and this seems more forward thinking. I'd have liked it more if you had convinced VAN to not dump Martinez's albatross on your head so that you could follow the trade up by using Hinson's salary on the current FA market.

Re: Vancouver/Halifax
Interesting. I'm not sure what this is for Halifax. My gut reaction is to call is a big win for Vancouver, but a chunk of that is centered on the idea of $19M in albatross contracts that are in the process of being generated. Maybe it'll be okay, but right now it feels kinda like BoJo dejavu, but split into two pieces. :)

I'd categorize this one as a straight up rape.

Re: Vancouver/Halifax
Hinson > Kontos (but age and being cheaper might make up for it)
Sturdivant > Martinez (purely on age and contract)
Cordova > Thomas (and even more so considering his age and cheapness)
Do Louis Hall and Pedro Gomez make up for that? I don't really know. Hall is at least a lefty but that 6 MO is scary. If Gomez develops he's a solid player at a thin position.

Re: Vancouver/Halifax
Martinez might be close to negative value because of that contract so it is more like Sturdivant >>> Martinez.
But while Hinson > Kontos today, for sure, HFX does gain 6 years of youth in the exchange, so that is something. And I actually like Hall quite a bit. He is VERY well developed for a 19 year old (6/6/6 already is nice!) and his skillset as a Southpaw will be fine if he hits full POT, imo. Gomez is wholly 'meh', though.
I certainly don't *like* the deal for HFX, but Matt's take, at least, feels a slight bit harsh.
