Sim Scope

Post by cheekimonk » Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:04 am

I mentioned this in Discord but wanted to put it here. Can we make our 7-day Sims line up with what OOTP considers a "week" (Sunday thru Saturday). This is a very valuable split ("This Week", "Last Week") but doesn't work if we run our Sims Wed/Thurs to Mon/Tues.

Note this is NOT dictating what real-life day we choose for Sims, only that we run our 7-day Sims in Sunday-Saturday OOTP days

Agree, this was a nice way to do things. I believe before the AS break last year we had it like this. Then the AS sim was extended to include the game itself and that caused the in-game timing to be off the rest of the season.

We do this in my other league and I like it a lot. It even makes in game messages more relevant to each sim. Things like Weekly Power Rankings and Player of the Week are all Monday through Sunday.

@Lane can you adjust the schedule this way

Secondly, this would add another One Day Sim after Spring Training #3 to set rosters.

I believe this would mean we would have to edit the schedule annually to make sure Opening Day is a Sunday??

Or if Opening Day is a Wednesday then we can still start sim on Sunday and it'll just be a 4ish game sim.

That’s kind of how my other league does it. The first sim is shorter to set up the rest of the sims to be the traditional week

I was wrong, Lane. OOTP considers a week to be Monday thru Sunday. I don't think there's problem with the overall schedule starting on a specific date (i.e., day 1 on the BBA calendar doesn't have to be a Monday). The BBA schedule can start and end as we customize it, but make the Sim end on Sunday. When we break a Sim (like All-Star game or opening day being day 1 of our schedule regardless of what day of the week it is...it might be a Thursday to Sunday Sim to start the season). But if our Sims end on Sundays we'll be in sync w/ OOTP:

should be fine. Only issues will come with events- which I'll have to ensure occur at end of week intervals

This would be a nice tweak and I would not mind if it meant a few extra sims to get things to line up. I like to use this week/last week for seeing how a player is trending so this would be great.

Thanks all. as always!
