Unable to assign Rule 5 returned player to minor league team

Unable to assign Rule 5 returned player to minor league team

Rule 5 player Jeremy Donahue was just released and sent back to me, however when I try to assign him to a minor league team, the game says he "needs to be on the 40-man roster", which I don't think he does. Can you please assign him to AA and slot him into the open spot in the rotation?
