Jacquot Natta signed a 5 year extension on 9/23. Didn't hit 5 years service time till 9/24.

As an anonymous league member just pointed out Octávio Martínez signed the same exact deal.

One concrete contract rule strictly enforced is that any player with less than 5 years of ML service time will not be allowed to sign a contract extension of longer than 3 seasons. Additionally, any player with less than 5 years of ML service time may not be tendered an extension of longer than 3 seasons. Any contract found violating this rule will be nullified and will have to be renegotiated to fit within this rule. Teams that violate this rule will be penalized $10 million from their Bonus Funds.

Whether he signed it today or yesterday, being offered an extension before 5 years violates a concrete BBA rule.

Yup. These should be undone and the usual penalty applies. The extension shouldn’t have been offered until crossing the threshold. This reeks of trying to get away with something if we allow this.

This seems petty, but let’s see if the guy takes the same deal after hitting 5 years.

I’d been watching his service time for real life weeks waiting until it said 5 years, 0 days to make the offer.

It said 5 years, 0 days after Thursday’s sim. Just like in Woods’s screen shot above.

The fact that the game still says 5 years, 0 days for those two guys is a bug of some sort.

Martinez and Natta were both signed legally and the game screwed it up.

It’s service days, not calendar years. There are more service days in a season than just 1 year. The league currently uses 167 days to equal 1 service year. There are more than 167 days in a season. Players accumulate just over 1 service year per season.

There are 182 days in a full season. Players who are on the roster for a full season currently earn 1 year and 15 days of service time.

I'm sorry but it is clear as day in the Constitution. Bandit came up in 2059. Not even on opening day. 2063 is not over. He does not have 5 years service even now. Nathan even just admitted that he knew there was a bug and took advantage of it

Service time years do not equal seasons, btw. They equal a certain amount of days in the big leagues. It seems you may not fully understand how that works.

Why did we change service time to 167 in the first place? Who's bright idea was that? Why not keep it to match what MLB has been doing for 150 years and what the BBA has always done. Why intentionally change it to something that makes zero sense. One year should be one year.
