That sounds about right. I was offering $9M with no bidding, which sounds okay to me for a team with cap space and a hole at DH.

All I was trying to do here was save a little dough by not releasing him, but apparently that was just TOO much for people's brains to handle. So out the door he goes.

If someone was offering this to me and I had the opportunity for a free DH who hit fine against righties last year on an expiring deal that helped my fan interest and I had plenty of cap space, I'd have no problem doing this kind of thing. Have done it in the past.

I actually have no idea why his WAR was listed at 0.3 this year - maybe someone can explain it to me. Probably got serious minuses for being mostly a DH/1B.

I've learned a lot. Especially maybe I shouldn't configure my finances so that $66mm of my salary cap goes to three players. And maybe I ought not to configure such wonky contacts to guys like Voelzke. I appreciate the tutorial, Aaron.

Yeah, WAR doesn’t make sense as a stat to split by pitcher handedness because it includes baserunning, defense, and a positional adjustment. You’re basically just looking at good old Runs Created there. He takes a severe positional adjustment for 1B/DH. Bob and I just had a conversation about this topic in the comments of a MTL TN recently.
