All right, I'm coming to the idea that I'm not going to be able to wedge Ricardo Mendoza into the future salary cap. So my loss can be your gain. He's open to signing a pretty reasonable $15-$16M a year deal for five seasons with me. My guess is you can negotiate him down a bit. At age 24 ... well ... that's pretty solid, I'd think.

I'm looking for something big back--probably has to be prospect value given my overall situation, but I'm willing to be ope to ideas. Barring some major issue, he's going to get me a #1 Supplemental, so you'll have to beat the combination of that (plus five months of value). I'm willing to move quickly, but I'm I'll also be giving folks advance warning of deals imminent in case they want to put in final offers.
