Boise 2043 Block

Post by jleddy » Mon Jul 13, 2020 1:02 am

Anyone contenders need a reliable reliever at a low cost for the stretch run/playoffs, let me know...Adam Barnard is available.

Adam Barnard, RHP, Boise Spuds
7/6/8
2.45 ERA, 1.05 WHIP (down from 2.68/1.11 when posted three sims ago on Slack)

Barnard is essentially a pending free agent as ’44 option won’t vest (IP)...only making $4.13M this year and I can eat salary if you're a team up against the cap. Not looking for a whole lot in return, so hit me up!

Updated: The Shoeless Request Line of "Cheap Hitters" (cheap is relative, but these guys won't break the bank)

I have a glut of mediocre third basemen that I would like to thin out...perfect for team looking for cheap starter in 2044, fill in a hole from a current injury, or add depth for the bench come playoffs:

NAMEAGERATINGS'43 STATSCONTRACTMISC
Kiichi Suzuki285/7/7/5/6.288/.343/.475$500k (pending FA)bats L, above-avg defense
Sancho Castillo266/7/4/6/7.243/.304/.355$3.2M (one year left of arb)good fielder, good speed
Dave Richards236/6/6/6/5.276/.331/.515 (AAA)$500k (six years left of arb)good athlete, avg defense
Other minor league depth options:
1B Miguel Angel Perales (currently slashing .346/.393/.577 in 52 big league at-bats as a platoon starter)
1B Jose Hernandez
OF Ramon Miranda

Very solid SP. Should get something decent for him. Even if he's probably a rental.

LOL, if I make you an offer for Suzuki, do I just get to pay him $500,000 or am I still on the hook for for the $12,000,000 that I was paying him?

(slightly rhetorical question)

I will seriously answer your rhetorical question. It looks like you released him, which means the remaining money for that deal shifts over into your "other" funds (not in front of game so forget what it is called, but it is near the bottom of the accounting spreadsheet). This is not counted against your cap, but will be accounted for in total profits. So you would have a 500k cap hit for Suzuki and be responsible for 12.5m worth of payments to him.

Thanks, knew I was on the hook for him somewhere, just didn't couldn't figure out where it showed up.

(I also knew his numbers would pick up as soon as I gave him the boot, no good sunuvab!tch)
