Boise Block

Post by jleddy » Tue Oct 29, 2019 1:46 pm

On the block:
  • 1B Yunosuke Terada (60/60)
    Bats R, Throws R
Due between $4-$5M in arbitration...coming off down year at the plate (.210/.317/.420) but still put up 0.5 WAR with his very good defense at first. "Godzilla" hit 48 HR in '38 and owns a career OBP of .357 despite a .245 average. He's fallen out of favor with management, as he's yet to follow-up on his 2038 breakout and minor league track record during GM Lederer's tenure.
Looking for minor league lottery tickets, major league depth in the infield or bullpen, or a swap of underachieving disappointing players.

* * * * * * * *
All other players available for the right price...serious inquires only.

What are you not telling us? Is French thinking of quitting baseball to pursue cooking and swimming? They’re becoming really popular now.

Yunosuke 'Godzilla' Terada - 1B, 65/65
Hank Brewer - C, 65/65
Bill Pidduck - RP, 50/55
Norris Rutledge - DH, 45/45 (willing to throw in $5M cash)
Dan Norman - 3B, 45/45
Ignacio Marrero - C, 40/40 (outstanding defensive catcher)

Dennis French still available, however the influx of "I'm interested but ____ is not available" will not be considered. It's Dennis frickin' French...making your 20/70 21-year-old in low-A off-limits for the likes of French is ludicrous.
I would feel bad that you already have Rutledge on the block (understandable, given that he's slashing .204/.290/.367), except that the two guys I got in exchange are slashing .179/.200/.286 (Torres) and .191/.253/.325) (Morrison).

Not exactly a high point in the annals of BBA trading ...

Yeah, I noticed Morrison's struggles last night. They say “A good settlement is when nobody is happy"...what about when no one is happy four months after a trade is made?

I’m going to recap all the trades I made post-expansion draft. Thinking Portland won the Brewer trade at the moment and I’m not regretting drafting him 1st overall.

  • 1B Carlos Muñóz (50/55)
    Bats R, Throws R
Will likely make under $1M in arbitration after his first major league season with negative WAR (-0.1). Like Terada, Muñóz has failed to build on his 2038 season (.884 OPS in 394 AB) and hasn't impressed Boise scouts as a DH over the past two seasons. While it hasn't been made public, his mid-season demotion to AAA (.252/.342/.467) leave some to believe his time as a starter in Boise is all but over. Teammates would hate to see Muñóz go, as he's a proven team leader who helps in the clubhouse, but often it comes down to "production talks and 74 OPS+ walks."
