Kids (aka Goats) on the Block

Post by GoldenOne » Wed Jun 13, 2018 11:05 am

Got some holes to fill after your Arbitration decisions have been made? Aren't thrilled with what's coming up in Free Agency? Looking to restock because you spent too much trying to reach last season's playoffs? Come check out the Kids!! (Changes from last edition are in italics to make viewing the menu a little easier.)

On Special(s): This seemed to be a hit at the end of last season so we'll see if we can continue it. It wont necessarily be a weekly update, until we get closer to the deadline, but we'll do what we can. Will take prospects but also willing to take cash as well - wont cost too much either way, its a special after all.
-- P Roberto 'Cotton' Chávez (7/5/8)
-- C César Flores (5/6/7/5/5) Also a 7 Catcher Rating.

ML Batters
-- SS Gilberto Keating (5/6/3/10/6) Looking for a very reasonable extension if you are looking for that.
-- CF Raúl Miranda (6/5/5/4/9) Extra versatility. So far this season he seen time 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, and RF for the Goats.
-- 2B/1B/DH Andre Wellington (5/7/8/6/5) Hitting .277/.364/.585 vs. lefties this season. Cheap, expiring contract.

ML Pitchers
-- P Nicholas Sutton (7/6/7) Need a 1-year filler in your rotation? Lose a starter for the year?? Bigger park than Les Paul Field? Sutton is your guy. Wont cost much, I promise.
-- P Atsumori 'Eyechart' Maeda (6/7/7) You know you want him. I'm willing to discuss keeping some of his salary.
-- SP Guillermo Martínez (9/5/6)
-- RP Jesse Howard
-- RPArmando Figueroa(10/5/9)[/i] On the DL and might be able to make it back in time for the playoffs.
-- CL Francisco Reyna (12/6/6)

Bump. Need to make some room. Looking for prospects.

For those that like the splits - Curry is hitting righties at a .299/.333/.649 this season.

I'm going to do some marketing for you.

Elijah Curry is a real nice piece that you should want to have. If I didn't have 4 OFers tearing it up right now, I'd be beating down the door for Curry. Don't let his poor WAR from being a slow footed LF playing CF for half his games fool you. He has a .936 OPS vs. RHP. You just need to realize 1) He is a corner OF (and probably not even a very good one at that), NOT a CF... for the love of god someone get him out of CF. 2) He needs to be platooned pretty desperately (.418 OPS and .174 OBP against LHP). Those things should still make him very desirable for just about anyone in the league. If in his proper role (LF/RF getting 400 ABs a year all against RHP) I'd bet that he'd be an .850 OPS bat putting up ~2 WAR per year. That, for a 25 year old, in my estimation, would be worth 2 2.5ish star non-RP prospects on the trade market.

Thanks Stever. He was only playing CF because Lee went down and he was the best option for a while. Once I finally brought Jackson up, I had Jackson and Jenkins on the corners. He's been relegated to DH vs. RHP and back-up OF roles. He's still doing well versus Righties (.892 OPS on 30 Jun; dont have the latest numbers since I'm at work and it doesnt look like HTML has updated after yesterday's sim yet.) I havent tried to shop him too much because I'm not quite sure what I want to do with him; I'm sure he can help someone though. As the playoff picture maybe becomes a little clearer, someone will come looking for a platoon bat in the OF or someone that can play small-ball.

I request that the immigrations office takes a look at Mitchell Purssell's paperwork. He signed as an IFA with Vegas out of South Korea and then 4 days later signs with Nashville out of Ireland. He's also 16 years old and has a moustache that would make Goose Gossage jealous. Something smells fishy here.
