Madison GM - Out of country 5/17 - 5/26

Post by CTBrewCrew » Tue May 14, 2024 2:38 pm

Gang - I will be out of the country in Ireland from 5/17 to 5/26. I will have no access to laptop/etc. Just a heads up. I will work with the GB to make any moves/export for me also in my absence.

Thanks

~Mike

Coulda just said out of town, but had to flex with the trip to Ireland...at least do some scouting while you're there.

My dream trip is to one day get to Ireland and have my golf clubs in tow for at least a round or two.

I went to Ireland with my family in 2003(?). It was amazing. Oh the stories I have....

-We looked up one of our relatives that we had never met before, surprised them with a visit at like 9 in the morning. They were totally cool and gave us a round of Bailey shots even though we were a group of about 15 total strangers to them..

-All the drinking stories are true. We'd see a guy drinking at the bar for lunch, then see him out delivering mail in a truck an hour later.

-Our tour guide said it's better to drive drunk than walk. Cause if you walk, you will probably get hit by a drunk driver.

-Killkenny and Killarny were my favorite places. I don't know if they had universities, but they definitely had college town party vibes. At one hotel, there was a speakeasy hidden behind the bar. Then, behind the speakeasy was another hidden bar where the real party was at. As a then 25 year old single American, I felt like I had the keys to the city. What a night and morning that was.

-Some random kid saw my step father smoking a cigar on the street and goes, "What kind of FAG is that?".. I responded, "are you going to let him talk about you like that?"

-Irish slang for having a good time is craic. After a night of drinking, my brother in law and I came back to the hotel drunk off our ass. He rode in the elevator with us and asked "Did you enjoy your craic tonight", and I said "Yes, the crack is this town is excellent"

It's probably more fun when you are young and stupid like I was, but I'm sure you will have a blast.

Theres a group of YouTube golfers called No Laying Up who did a travel series in Ireland (Tourist Sauce). There was an episode of them in a pub post golf enjoying the Irish craic. Since watching that episode I’ve wanted to go to Ireland.
