Chicago away on emergency

My 90-year-old mother in law was taken to the hospital overnight from her memory care facility, and the hospital is saying her condition is not good and she needs to go into hospice care. We're going to head up there this afternoon. I will have my laptop with me and should be able to export with no trouble - this likely will affect my ability to make forum posts (although there may be waiting room time, so who knows?) Thought I should at least say what's up in case my schedule gets messed around. My father-in-law died in July and my mother-in-law has been declining ever since, so it's been a tough road. We will be very happy to see 2019 in our rearview mirror ...

My mother-in-law passed away on Jan. 4, with her family around her. My wife and her brothers decided to have a memorial service for her and their dad sometime in the spring, when the days are less cold and gloomy.

Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts, prayers and well-wishes. Much appreciated.

My thoughts are with you and your family. When my mom died a few years back - we were all sad but happy that she was back with dad. It was the first exposure my two sons had of experiencing a loss of someone so close to them. As i explained to them at the time - they are never really gone as long as you remember them and enjoy the memories they gave you. They will be with you forever. It was nice she had her family close during her before she left to go be with her husband. How long were they married?

Hi Mike - thanks for your thoughts and condolences. My in-laws were married for 67 years, and It was impossible to think of them apart from each other. When Hank, my father-in-law, passed in a July, my mother-in-law just seemed lost and you could sense her slipping away bit by bit.
