2063 Trades at the Deadline?

Post by Trebro » Fri Jul 11, 2025 5:29 pm

We're at the Deadline!

There's been lots of activity up to now but only 1 trade since last night's sim.

How many trades will we have before Sunday evening?

Seems fairly quiet and not a lot of impact players available.

-Jim Fleming is the most interesting name to me. Every team could use another trustworthy playoff starter. I can see Matt taking advantage of a sellers market and get nice haul for him.

-bin Mazin is really good, but a tough sell. He is teetering on the dreaded "old and expensive 1B" stigma. If he was in his walk year he'd probably net a much bigger return. I can't see a team backing up the truck for him and doubt Justin is going to let him go for pennies on the dollar. Especially when Rosenblat is in the hunt. Maybe he gets moved with a bad contract coming back in some sort of big trade with a lot of moving parts. aka "the Niles special"

-Giustino Modica has another year of control and Nashville has been on fire since they revamped the bullpen. If you want to be pony up a huge offer, he can be yours. But otherwise, Nashville will be happy to keep him.

- Dave Ferrell should be moved and probably will be. Cape Fear may have scared the market away by saying "come with a good offer". That is a very subjective statement and we've seen that cause a stir in the past. Are they looking or an 80 rated prospect in return or just trying to avoid teams saying "oh, I'll take him off your hands for you... here is some 35 Pot 18 year old bum"

-Umar Dogar... I don't know what to make of it. I know Montreal has a good pitching staff and he is more expensive, older, and more injury prone than the others. So they could deal him. But Charm City is 10 games better than them, so unless they are trading him for a SS that can stay on the field, I just don't see it. They need all the horses they can in the playoffs.

Did I miss anyone? I'm sure we'll get a small flurry of activity. But it's going to be more of teams filling holes or making a trade for the sake of making a trade rather than a lot of blockbusters.

Really awesome to see you engage in this question to such a high degree, Alan. It's hard for me argue your points above. I might add Hargrove as a possible person to move, with retention. His ratings should indicate better stats on a stronger team. Einen isn't bad, but he's extremely expensive with those team option payments (I can't see anyone wanting to pay him that price next two seasons). Yamauchi has some potential but not sure what kind of return he would get. Davidson, maybe? Canales could get a look if someone need OF help.

I think you're probably right - maybe 5 or 6 more deals. Unless something triggers another mad rush.

By my count there were 10 trades. Crowd sourcing for the win!
