Are Drafts Shitty?

Yes, BBA drafts are a joke. No one want's to rebuild because all they will get are a bunch of useless 45-50 POT scrubs in the first round.

No, of course not silly. Drafts are fine. Stop crying about it. No one cares about your opinions.
6
75%
Who cares? Using the draft to rebuild is actually the least efficient way. You should be making good trades and looking for value.

I don't mind the drafts being shitty after 10 or so guys. I wouldn't mind seeing 1-3 possibly elite players followed by 5-7 above average guys just to make the draft discussion and storylines moving forward more fun. No one will remember this draft, and, in a writing league, that's not great.

Note: I abstained from voting as you did not have a gif of a drunken Heartland GM peeing in his own closet.

When I play single player the drafts look about the same as what I’ve seen in my couple years with the Brewster. I like top heavy drafts because they favor the teams picking at the top of the round.

They aren’t shitty, they’re realistic. Adjust expectations.

The drafts are realistic. "good" drafts like the 2036ish years result in the bloated ratings across the league that we have now. Do you want "good" drafts and a league where ratings mean nothing? Or do you want "bad" drafts and a league where ratings make sense?

The reason we get frustrated about this is that it's the same question and same answer every season. We're doing what's best for the league.

The other option would be drafts that have a boat load of talent on paper but a high flameout rate. Not sure that’s any better.

So it's realistic to have replacement level players in the first round of a 20 or 25 round draft.

Gotcha.

If you want a crappy draft you should link to 2016. And of course its the year the Reds picked second.

Honestly I just picked a random year that was recent and long ago enough that players should be contributing. But wowza

WAR is a crude tool I'm not overly fond of but good grief not exactly an up and coming group of future Hall of Famers im that 2015 class.

Both drafts looked pretty average imo. There are some good players taken later. Shouldn’t be HoF players in every class.

Drafts are fine. It's the players that are overpowered/underpowered/dull (delete as appropriate)

We went way too long thinking a 7 contact was below average. Average is 5. #math

Tip of the hat to the conspiracy to deny me the 10 votes needed for two points in the poll. Good on ya mates!

Although it is a bit more whiny than I really feel, I voted the first option for two reasons:

1) During my Draft Rewind features, I've seen how good drafts used to be, and they've fallen off a fair amount
2) Can't trade draft picks in the BBA, so rebuilding through the draft unless it's real slow and gradual is not as viable in this league compared to others that allow moving around in the draft.
