Frick League Wild Card Scenario

Post by 7teen » Thu Jan 20, 2022 2:25 pm

We are down to slightly more than 25% of the season left. 45-48 games roughly remain on most schedules. The Wild Card races in both the JL and FL are heating up. It looks very very likely that either YS or Nashville has the top WC spot locked up. So what do you see as being the end result?

Current Situation:
Yellow Springs (HEA) 75-40
Portland (PAC) 65-50
Valencia (PAC) 64-51
Louisville (HEA) 62-53
---------------------------------
Madison 60-54 (HEA) -1.5
Chicago 61-55 (HEA) -1.5
Omaha 56-59 (HEA) -6.0
Hawaii 56-60 (PAC) -6.5
Vancouver 55-60 (PAC) -7.0

Had to go with the homer 4 Heartland spots, but could be only 3. Omaha is really heating up and should push for a spot despite being 6 GB.

I voted 2 and 2, but could easily envision Twin Cities and Des Moines lifting three Heartland teams into those open spots.

It's usually the opposite. Fringe Pacific teams usually cannibalize on the weaker teams while the Heartland teams beat up each other. This will be interesting.

I wanted to vote FOUR PACIFIC, but you didn't give me that option.

Omaha is definitely rolling. Going to be interesting since all of these teams play each other so much.

Omaha plays Louisville 7 more times, Madison twice, Chicago 3, and Yellow Springs 3. That is going to play a huge role down the stretch.

That's also the case with Valencia and Portland who face off 7 times and Portland still has 4 left with Chicago. A lot of head to head matchups between these teams battling it out for those final 3 spots.

A little gap between the top 4 and the next 4 but I don't think anyone outside of YS feels good on that board right now.

Whoever gets to face TWC most often will have the biggest advantage lol. With their continued inactivity you must be guaranteed 95-100% wins in games v them?

It's been a rough year for Milligan.

I kinda want to see Hawaii and their -107 run differential fall ass-backwards into the playoffs. Does that make me a bad person?

Really looking like a 2-2 split at this point. Tonight's sim will likely go a long way in showing us. If Valencia or Portland was to sweep the other one in their upcoming 4 game set it could really damage the Pac's chances of getting 2 Wild Cards. Outside of that, both could be in.
