Do you use 7 day lineups or traditional? If you use(d) 7 day lineups, what has been your experience?

I use both depending on a variety of things:

Influence battery mates
Matchups vs a particular pitcher
My mood
My ambition
If we’re winning or losing

My biggest concern is if I don't have time to make changes in between sims or I forget.

If you'll indulge me a little, as I'm interested in moving toward 7DLs as well: When analyzing matchups vs a pitcher, do you go with historical stats, or are you doing a rating vs. rating review? Maybe a little of both?

I believe if you select the option for "clear lineups after use" then it'll just revert to your normal lineups and you won't have any weirdness.

And to answer the question I use both. Primarily too make sure my top starters get extra starts when we have days off.

I use them primarily to make sure Jim Antolin sits against any pitcher with 10+ stuff.

I like to monkey with 7 Day lineups when it's available but my schedule gets so hosed with the rain that it's not practical.

I use 7-day and have for many seasons now. Occasionally I get bored with the season or if we are out and just go to traditional.

This year I've really tinkered with 7-day lineups because I have 3 COFs that all need PT so I'm shuffling starts around to make sure to maximize all 3 guys and get them as many ABs and Games Played as possible. I also like to tinker with matchups as the season progresses when trends in vsL and vsR develop for certain teams.

Mostly rating vs. rating. I look at the stuff and control rating of the opposing pitcher to determine what style of hitter would have the best chance of succeeding (handedness has the highest weight).

High stuff guy; sit my low AVK guys.
High control; sit my low avg/high Eye guys
I don’t care about opposing movement as hitting home runs is a fool’s gambit and should be avoided, when possible.

Occasionally, Carlos Camacho will send us a sign to alter our lineups. We never ignore those, of course.

I’ve meant for years to swap from traditional to 7D but have just been too lazy to do it. I can see where the advantages of extra starts for top pitchers and better matchups are, maybe if I ever get close to someone in the league I might force myself

I never use 7 day and 95% of the time i don't even look at the teams upcoming much less the pitchers. I trust my offense to do its job.

I've always heard of so many problems with 7 day lineups that I've been afraid to use it.

This. I've never used 7-day. They used to simply not work, but maybe they've gotten better.

I use them about a quarter of the sims in my league for all the reasons shoeless.db said above.

Two seasons ago, a AAAA bench guy (when he's with my main team) hit about .750 against my 2 main rivals and their best starters. This year, he was stuck back in AAA, when I had the genius idea to call him up for back-to-back series against said rivals and their top pitchers. I crafted 7-day lineups based on past performances. My AAAA, a speedy switch-hitter, was poised to finally break through and stick with the big league club...

He went 1-for-the-sim. We went 2 and 4. I wasn't a genius after all.
