What should we do about export issues?

Post by Dington » Sat Jul 24, 2021 11:36 pm

Some people are gonna be pissed no matter the outcome. If we re-sim, those with winning records or players who jumped are gonna be mad. If we keep it as-is, teams with injured players and roster issues have been put in a bad spot leading up to the playoffs. What to do? This is of course if there’s a backup file from two sims ago.

Pretty easy vote for me as I am now in a WC slot. I would imagine others will vote as per their status.

Me? The quicker the season ends the better I’m afraid.

Matt has always fixed everything that’s gone before in the previous 10, 11 years so he’ll fix this

I changed my vote to keep as-is. It’s a game and shit happens. No way to make everyone happy and going back and likely changing results would piss off more people more than likely. I noticed Ananas got hurt again this sim and has a feeling something happened again and figured it would ruffle a few feathers. Let’s all move forward and have fun.

We can try to track the issue. Send in exports then commish imports. Then we can compare what he is getting to try to determine the issue.

How many people are affected?

Just to point out: if the grievance is not being able to export and so to adjust between Sims, re-Simming the past two Sims in 1 Sim creates that situation for everyone in the league. Maybe that's fair if it's a widespread issue.

I vote for whatever makes it the most objectively fair for the teams currently in pennant races. If any meaningful games during the last 2 sims had their outcomes affected by these issues (such as a team not being able to field a replacement for an injured player), then they should be re-simmed.

We’ve had previous issues over the years and had very few re-sims. Unless it is a major failure which affected the majority of the league the decision has generally been “it’s a real shit but there’s nothing to be done without upsetting a lot of GM’s”
I do believe we had a real big resim one year if I remember correctly? Ages ago, I have an inkling we had to restart a season? Or maybe my minds going senile, maybe I’m dreaming, maybe it was another league? Just seems to be hidden in a deep dark corner of my mind

I think the thing that particularly annoys a lot of us is the back to back sims with the exact same issue (as well as the unfortunate timing where it falls in the season). This has happened before every once in awhile but this is the first time I can remember it happening back to back sims.

Id vote that we take a look at those who had big injuries because there players weren't benched, and remove those injuries. None of it truly affected me so on that aspect.

Makes no difference for my team. We suck. However for everyone else, I’m good with whatever is fair and workable.

What is am against is the criticism of the Commish. I am sure he is just as frustrated and pissed off as anyone and he will figure it out and deal with it. We have had very few glitches in this league’s history and they have always been dealt with fairly. Regarding communication, well we all go through busy periods, up and down periods, and go awol at times. The Conmish never gets that option. He rarely misses a sim, etc. if I’m not mistaken in the past few months he’s sold and bought a house and is somewhere in the process of moving. Given that my wife has been a realtor for 30 years I can tell you that it has never been crazier to go through that process than it is right now. Yet he has kept the league on schedule throughout this.

I’m sure the timing of this happening at the end of the season has only added to everyone’s frustration, but everyone just needs to take a deep breath. Plus 22 seems to have caused more issues than most recent versions. It is a game, do not lose perspective. .

I said leave it, it is what it is. I'm not happy about it but I just want it to be addressed and fixed. Not only did I have a hurt player continue playing (and get hurt for longer and (probably missing the playoffs) but I had increased ticket prices both times so it also cost me some money. (I now I dont have any more home games.) We all cant Ping Commish each sim, there are just too many moves going on, big and small. There are some I dont want people knowing about as well. I just hope we can get it fixed before any further sims.

I voted to keep as is. The missed export thing could have cost me a few games, which sucks in a WC race that's butthole tight but we can't redo everything every time there's a technical hiccup. I know this isn't the first time that it's happened this season and I think we're all very interested to know why it happened and if there's a way to keep it from continuing to happen.

Maybe take some notes on a change or two from a couple people to see if they actually take this time? Things happen but you can't keep going without at least checking on it.

This poll wasn't created out of criticism by any means. I am in full support of commish and just curious how others would move forward. Some teams lost key players to injury in a pennant race that could've been prevented, so I understand the frustration, but at the end of the day it's a game...a simulation game, nonetheless, so outcomes are gonna vary regardless. I have no idea how the uploads works, but I'm 100% on board waiting until commish can get this figured out. Seems like a lot of GMs have had a lull in activity this season and commish is no exception. Everyone gets busy and needs a little break here and there. You're doing a great job @recte44 !

I did not take this poll as a criticism. I posted my thoughts on this thread because it related to the topic, but my words were related to other comments here and on discord. Not the poll itself.

I have had Uribe off the active roster for the last two sims where he could have been playing if the export moving him from the injured list took, Gui Jen is hitting ,280 but not near the .350 Uribe was hitting plus Jen is not quite as good in the field.

But even with that and Jax now being a game out of the lead, I would not even give a re-sim a second thought. Jax doing their typical road trip antics probably had as much to do with the drop as anything else.

Just wondering - hopefully Recte doesnt shoot me for saying this - would it be a thought to send in any 'major' moves to the ping commish thread and have them entered manually if the export issue does not get fixed prior to Tuesday?
