Commie Child

Post by GoldenOne » Tue Mar 30, 2021 7:24 pm

SP Armando 'Commie Child' Feliciano is aiming to be a Free Agent following this season. He's having a great season (ignore the ERA) and is on pace to have the best WAR of his career. He's also currently asking for the lowest extension demand of the season. Is a 6-year, $81M extension tempting enough for the Cougars to sign him? What does that mean for Francisco Franco, who is 2 years from being able to get that 6-year deal but is already asking for about the same prices? Surely his demand has a decent chance of increasing. What to do?

I didn't vote because my option wasn't there...just sign him and keep both for now? Figure out Franco in 2 years when he is eligible. I would however stick to 4 years on Feliciano if he'll allow it. A 4 yr/54M deal is comfortable maybe with a team option for a 5th.

Got some batters I need to sign as a priority (unless you want to trade for Menzies after the season) and have a surplus already at pitching.

99.9% get a comp pick. Put him on the block for now and ask for at least a Type A type of return back or rental for rental swap on a need that makes sense.

But I'm with Justin on trying to get it to 4 years or if you go over 4 years, protect your self with team option(s).
