I'll have to do more playing. I've used the editor extensively (thanks to Lane's recommendation) to play around with pitchers, specifically to see if converting a starter to a reliever will be worth the investment. Those exercises sure pulled the curtain back.Ted wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 1:18 pmYou can learn a lot by simply opening a default OOTP league, end clicking on "editor" and playing around with the numbers. You just have to remember to take into account that our ratings are both higher in the BBA and skewed towards power and strikeouts.shoeless.db wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 1:13 pmThanks, all. I ran the 9/10/1/9/1 that @Ted posted. Over a 10 year sim he hit .255/.375/.360 with 520 doubles, 25 triples, 0 HR, 991 walks and 2368 K.
There is one caveat, Im an idiot so I might have screwed it up. Take it for what it is.

The question is how much you want to pull the curtain back, right? I'm a nerd, so I don't mind, but I get that some people don't want to see how the sausage is made.shoeless.db wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 1:27 pmI'll have to do more playing. Re: 30 Points to Create a Player
That's a great point. A main fear I had for purchasing OOTP for the first time last year was the game would become a practice of efficiency scrambling through min/max exercises. It's fairly obvious to garner from my opinions on baseball and a cursory reading of my team news I prefer the romanticism of baseball -- the drama, personalities, and quirkiness of it all. It's been a pleasant surprise how OOTP can tiptoe the line between pacifying (note, I did not use the term, satisfying) players who lean far towards saber-metrics and those who base decisions on the curvature of the backbone from a sacrificed peafowl.Ted wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 1:34 pmThe question is how much you want to pull the curtain back, right? I'd pick the mountain as long as the he had strong side splits.
