Limiting # of votes allowed per owner for HOF
Just adding this to talk about - it may never happen - but today GMs have a unlimited # of ballots they can cast in each years HOF election. In order to help limit the HOF sprawl into a “really good wing”, what are everyone’s thoughts of limiting the number of ballots to 10 max? You don’t have to use 10 each season, (if you only like 3 vote for 3), but this will stop the voting for everyone all players or really think about who deserves their vote...

Re: Limiting # of votes allowed per owner for HOF
In our world, voting for everyone is a way of saying: I don't have time right now to do a good job, so I'll leave it to you guys. Actively voting for everyone does not hurt anyone's chance. Not voting costs you two PPT.
What we need to do is add a candidate called "No one" so you can still send a ballot even if you honestly decide no one is worthy.

Your going to get pitchforked lol.
I'm impartial to this because I'll never vote for 10 anyhow. Atleast its very unlikely unless something massive were to happen in one offseason for retirements.

i agree with the "nobody" option (in the old days you could do it with just sending recte a PM i suppose, but not an option with new system). That being said, i am against limits both here and in real HOF voting.

Re: Limiting # of votes allowed per owner for HOF
I think that a limit is good in many situations, but in online leagues there are other dynamics that come to play.
In addition to the "I'm in a busy place" thing that by definition someone will have pretty much every time, there are also guys in that first season with the league who know nothing and just don't want to get in the way...so "vote everyone" is actually the best/fairest thing they can do.
Assuming it's not done heavily (by several guys at the same time), just looking at the voting for the past several years would say that the existence of a person who voted for everyone (such as this year) would not and did not make a difference (though Ankle missed by one vote).

when it comes to league matters, there is no difference between UMEBA and BBA so by all means.

I really like this idea a lot. I'll confess, I saw the HOF ballot in my first week of joining the site, but it reading everything was too overwhelming so I stayed away as I didn't want to be unfair.
Many thanks! Something I'm going to have to get used to in the Brewster universe.usnspecialist wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 12:27 pmwhen it comes to league matters, there is no difference between UMEBA and BBA so by all means.

Re: Limiting # of votes allowed per owner for HOF
May seem strange to some with me voting no, for those who didn't see the slack conversation I keep my votes to low numbers 5, 6 even less sometimes but unless it was a weird year I doubt it would go above 5 on average. However I do feel each GM should have a choice, that's the reason I voted no.

Re: Limiting # of votes allowed per owner for HOF
This poll came up as a response to (i think it was Fred) on the last AFBI podcast after i dropped off as to why i didn't vote for Areola. I didn’t vote for him as i knew he was gonna get in regardless of my vote, so i used my vote to help someone else get in (or continue on the ballot) that others may not. I kinda use the 10 votes max as a guide for me when voting. Yes - id be the guy who'd not vote for Jeter IRL (i think he should be a HOF) - but he’s getting in with or without my vote.

Re: Limiting # of votes allowed per owner for HOF
I'm indifferent. Yes, if there was a limit and you believed > 10 deserved a yes, it would make you think about it more as you'd have to drop one. I haven't gone back and looked at the number I've voted yes for, but I'd be surprised if I voted for 10+ to even have to worry about that.

I can speak for myself only, but I keep a listing of my yes votes while guys are on the ballot. I'll kind of re-check my gut feelings on players from year to year, but really all I'm spending time on are the new guys.
