Re: Do we even want the FPL?
I wish it was embedded in your main directory. The fact you have to switch to a different franchise is ridiculous. If we did IFA that way, I’d probably hate it just as much.

Lol... I like it.
If y’all really hate it that bad, just put 35-40 of your youngest 20 rated scrubs on the roster, set it to auto control and forget it.
Wouldn’t even take 5 minutes.
Not all of us have our hands fulls every post season.

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
While I 100% acknowledge the fact that I know some folks don't like it (as this poll shows, it's an almost perfect division), I admit I've never really understood the issue. As you noted, it's pretty easy to opt out of as long as you know how to work the tools--but I'm figuring that last bit is the biggest issue over all. If the Winter Leagues were just another team in your main organization's screen, I'd guess that half of the disagreeables would be happier. Shaw, of course, would still be for launching--which is weird since I know he's a minor league/development kind of guy.
Go figger.
It takes all sorts, though.

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
I voted no but I honestly dont care. The AI only picks a few guys that I would rather it not (for injury sakes) but its easy to swap them out, set to auto, and forget it. In my 5 seasons now, I've had one injury to a decent prospect and it hurt a little but didnt destroy him.
What I didnt know and like was that when the injury happened, I took him off the FPL roster and replaced him with someone else. Unfortunately, it put the prospect, who was a few years away from the BBA, on the 40-man roster and started his clock.

Lol great point. I would be very bored without it in the postseason if I wasn't competing.

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
Would this all have to fall on Matt? Would there be a way for Matt to run the BBA sim and another board member to run the FPL, in whatever form it takes? Or does it all have to happen simultaneously?
I like the concept of the FPL, but I do think Matt is overburdened already. Anything that’s more work for him shouldn’t be considered.

Matt can speak here, but I think the main extra work for him is when we have GMs that forget to export their FPL teams.HoosierVic wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 10:43 pmWould this all have to fall on Matt? Re: Do we even want the FPL?
I am sure it helps development but I don’t know if they get enough development bump to justify the injury risk. I guess we need one of those spreadsheets to prove if the lemon is worth the squeeze.

Really like this idea.bschr682 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 7:25 pmI firmly agree with this idea. If its in the middle of winter the league is all back and re-engaged as well as its an excuse to plop some extra sims in there which could in theory help guys have more back and forth in free agency as well. Win-WinRonCo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 6:17 pmI think part of it is I didn't do a good job of prepping people, and I also think some guys who fall by the wayside naturally take the last month or so of the season to check out a little. That why I wonder if it would be better to do in Nov/Dec when everyone is engaged again in prepping for arby and FA.
I'm a fan of the FPL.

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
Shouldn't be hard to create a FPL with the 18 teams that want it. I bet your participation percentage would go WAY up.

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
I’m sure you can set it as another AA or A level team, close the rosters off till season end and schedule the games appropriately. I’ve been in a league that did that and I’m sure you’re right Jim, people’s participation would go up if it was part of your regular franchiseJimBob2232 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 6:17 pmI wish it was embedded in your main directory.
