OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
Should a player have to be listed on a Trade Block for a minimum of one day (24 hours) before being traded?

Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
This would be entirely to restrictive, and in many cases would just force GMs to answer a bunch of PMs that they don't want. Most of the time it will just delay things.

Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
The main reason I'm posting this is that almost EVERY deal that gets flak from the peanut gallery includes some variant of "I wish I knew he was available" or my personal favorite: "I would have given more than that"

Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
I would say NO
I have another proposed idea... From my Fantasy Baseball league
- Should All Trades be Subject to League Review? And would "League Review" be all GM's or maybe just the BBA Leadership?

Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
I don't hate this. League review wouldn't be terrible. Though I'm sure their are skeptics of people's motives on why they'd decline a trade. In fantasy league's, I usually push anything through unless it seems like collusion or egregious. I think I trust most of you to not decline because it hurts your playoff chances. I'd say if this became a thing, to say no, you have to have post why you're saying no.

Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
That was going to be my next poll. It would also delay trades one sim though.
It's always been my stance that if two people agree to a deal then I'm not going to veto it. The only real reason I would veto a deal is if I suspect some type of collusion or funny business.

Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
The first line was something I forgot to mention in my post. Depending on when the trade is posted, it can delay the deal and that isn't a great option. The second sentence is exactly how I feel. Though I would of considered vetoing the deal that started this all and not for either of those reasons.recte44 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 1:12 pmThat was going to be my next poll. Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
Here is an unpopular opinion. Go the other way. You will never tamp down on sharky behavior so this would be just a band aid. The league has shifted, in my opinion, from people who mostly do this for fun to people who really want to win at all costs.
So add in a mechanism for getting rid of bad GM’s. People are allowed to make mistakes but once you get past a 2-3 it really starts messing with competitive balance hence uproar.
By all means give them a soft landing (UMEBA), but if the league wants to be elite, let it be elite. Not all people are cut out for dealing with that level of competition.

I say we start with Rockville. He clearly has a few things he needs to work on and improve as a gm.

Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
Nope. If this becomes the rule, everyone in my system will be on the block at all times...with a small subset of player I really want to move. then you will have to police the number of people on the block. It will be a mess. People will be angry. And the terrorists will win.
As someone who has said “I would have paid more” several times...it is what it is. If you want to float an offer my me before making a move to see if you can get more. Do it. Worst I can say is no. If time is of the essence and you want to pull the plug quickly...that’s fine too. To each their own.

Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
To clarify as I’ve gotten a few messages and people didn’t seem to understand what I meant. To couch this in terms of your most recent kerfuffle, I’m not suggestive an anti-Niles mechanism, I’m suggesting an anti-Ed mechanism.
It’s mean I know but be honest. Des Moines will not compete with Ed at the helm. I like Ed. I would want him in UMEBA. But in BBA he cannot hang. Harsh sorry Ed.

My former team quote from the Lexington Warriors in the GBC Prime used to read "And Alexander wept, for he had no more worlds to conquer."handaspencer wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 2:59 pmI say we start with Rockville. He clearly has a few things he needs to work on and improve as a gm.
Of course, my entrance into that league was as a marauding barbarian, so that makes more sense in context.

Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
I've seen a picture of Ed wearing a Des Moines Kernals hat at a real MLB game. I think sometimes we get caught up in the seriouness of this league and forget what it's all about. There are 30(soon to be 32) teams in the league. If the league is 100% even then every team wins once out of every 30-32 seasons. Of course some will be better then others. Ed has stuck through the lean years and held on to veterans that he grew to love. As long as he is active and having fun then why should anyone tell him what he should and shouldn't do. Not directed at anyone specifically, but run your own teams and leave the man alone before he wants to leave too.

I was so jealous of Ed's hat.

Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
I’ve always considered taking the Madison logo and making me a T-shirt.... just as a conversation starter.
Be better if I made it a player T-shirt and put Puckett 11 or Kengos 18 on the back. And yes, I’ve seriously thought this.

Re: OFFICIAL VOTE: Mandatory Trade Block?
That would be the only thing to do. Otherwise it operates like a waiver wire trade process, which is just too cumbersome.
