Is Sam Romero Dumb?

I'm going to do something new this offseason with free agents, so I figured I'd rack up some easy PP as a way to research the market. It should help you guys to with some questions I'll later be asking you. We've been wondering how good OOTP is at players judging the market when deciding on player opt outs and options. It does feel like a mixed bag so far. So, before we get to the wonderful day where we all figure out who is screwed and who is not so much, let's see what we think. Remember, I'm asking you, SHOULD this player opt out. Not whether you expect them to do so. With each player I ask about, I'll try to give a little background. Feel free to discuss.

Sam Romero

Another mostly placeholder. Sam Romero can decide to not pick up 8.5 mil per for three years. You know, Sam Romero, the guy who has been league average or worse since 2034. Decidedly worse recently. Hey, maybe he doesn't want 25.5 million.

Only partially relevant, but didn't Moustakas only net like 1M more over his '18+'19 salaries compared to the '18 QO he turned down?

Now fully on topic, I really can't imagine Romero would be so dumb as to walk away...

I hope he is that dumb. I threatened him by telling him he was going to be our starting catcher next year if he exercises his option.

I think he has some life left in him, but I’d like the cap space (obviously)

I'm hoping all players like this are dumb because I want Desiderius Kirchbaum to exercise his opt-out too
