I'm going to do something new this offseason with free agents, so I figured I'd rack up some easy PP as a way to research the market. It should help you guys to with some questions I'll later be asking you. We've been wondering how good OOTP is at players judging the market when deciding on player opt outs and options. It does feel like a mixed bag so far. So, before we get to the wonderful day where we all figure out who is screwed and who is not so much, let's see what we think. Remember, I'm asking you, SHOULD this player opt out. Not whether you expect them to do so. With each player I ask about, I'll try to give a little background. Feel free to discuss.
Victor Guerra
Victor Guerra was once an impact power hitting bat for the Yellow Springs Nine. However, in his age 29,30, and 31 seasons he has posted 0.8,0.0, and 1.0 WAR. He signed a 4 year 31.62 million dollar deal prior to 2036. This year (year 2) he made 7.5 million. He has an opt out clause, but even if he doesn't exercise it Des Moines can decline team options on years 3 and 4. The salaries are 8.5 and 9.5 million respectively. The buyouts are 1.7 and 1.9. I'm not sure if Des Moines has to pay both buyouts if they decline him (which they almost assuredly will) or just the 1.7. If someone knows, help me out.
Should Victor Guerra opt out and become a free agent?

I'm pretty sure DM would have to pay both buyouts to give rid of him after next year.
I feel like there are half a dozen RH'd corner OF "tweeners" (ie. guys that really should be short side platoons, but someone can squint at and see as a starter if they are desperate) in the FA pool every year that all start out asking for 5x8M before accepting a 1 year, 2M deal a week before spring training. Guerra is one of those guys, so I'd advise him to not opt out.

Guerra should not opt out...but we'll see what OOTP does.

If this were real baseball, he may opt out to try to play for a winner. He may also think he is worth more money like these greedy ootp players are getting.
But knowing the group of GM's we have here, he would be stupid to opt out.
