2037: "Most Surprisingly Bad First Half?"

Post by RonCo » Sun Jan 20, 2019 10:06 am

We're at the All-Star break, so now's the time to look at fallen teams. Here are probably the biggest under-performers in each division. Which is the most surprising fall off?

I can't decide between Mexico City and Huntsville. I guess half of Stever's fall is due to blowing it up, he might have pulled out of (and maybe still missed the playoffs) if he kept it together. So let's go with Fred.

I went with Mexico City as well.

There's quite a few key players underperforming, especially the starters. They have the players to do far better.

Yeah, it's me. I don't really know what impact the coaches have on team performance but I'm considering canning literally my whole staff, doctor and all (have you seen my minor league DL?), to see if that helps shale things up a bit.

We probably would've went back to our 15-12 pace from April if it held together (even mid blow-up we went .500 in June), but the stumble in May dug us too big a hole, I thought (which was the story of our last 2 seasons - 5 months of playoff baseball and 1 month of shit to ruin it). Clearly my biggest faux pas was expecting to need a .500 record to win a wildcard this year, lol. All in all I feel good about the blow up, though. There was something very crushing about having the worst draft pick of any team to not make the playoffs the past two seasons - and if we would've treaded water at .500ish it would've just kept continuing like that. This little retool will help reset my draft position going forward, lol.
