Re: Do we even want the FPL?
I voted yes because I like the concept, and I like the extra reps for some guys. But its implementation is difficult and I wonder if its timing would be better paid attention to if it ran after the Landis. I wouldn't argue hard for it.

I voted yes cause I love it and look forward to it. But if it's a headache for the commish and nobody else cares about it. I won't be one to bitch if it's taken away.

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
I kinda agree with Ron. I dont hate it in concept. I hate that every year its a surprise, people miss it, Recte gets frustrated he has to fix peoples rosters, people complain about injuries, its just clunky in its implementation.

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
I like getting the guys extra playing time, but if the league did away with it I wouldn't cry about it.

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
I think part of it is I didn't do a good job of prepping people, and I also think some guys who fall by the wayside naturally take the last month or so of the season to check out a little. That why I wonder if it would be better to do in Nov/Dec when everyone is engaged again in prepping for arby and FA.

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
Voted no because I'm fairly sure nobody pays attention to it. It's another chance for players to get injured and to overuse pitchers. I get the reps thing but I'm not a fan.
Re: Do we even want the FPL?
I say no only because this league is so deep, and it takes so much time. Concept is good...but,,,,,,,,,,,

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
I firmly agree with this idea. If its in the middle of winter the league is all back and re-engaged as well as its an excuse to plop some extra sims in there which could in theory help guys have more back and forth in free agency as well. I can take it if leave it. It’s nice for the reps, but if it wasn’t there I wouldn’t miss it.

I was the tiebreaker and voted yes. I don't really care either way, but gun to my head I'll vote yes and use it to get some extra reps and injuries

Maybe we give it one season when we do it after the landis. And if that doesn't feel good, we can it.

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
Here is a thought. It would take a little bit of time to reconfigure. But.... Couldn't we make the fall league optional? Meaning if 16 GM's want to be in it then we just have a 16 team league and contract the teams that don't want to participate.
Two negatives to this....
1. We should really all play by the same rules. But I think the divide here is so strong that people who don't want to be in the fall league just don't want to be in it and could care less if others still did it. And vice versa with those of us who want it. I have no issues if a team wants to be excluded. By entering the league you accept the good and the bad.
2. When a team changes GM's it could change the teams fall league decision. I'd hate to see extra work of expanding and contracting every season because a new GM comes in and wants to enter/withdraw. So some kind of rule would have to be set up to lock the league for x amount of season and a new GM would have to deal with it till the shuffle year.
I dunno. Just my 2 cents. I'm on board with whatever is best for the league.

Neutral. The timing is difficult. Hate that I Missed the one export that had the FPL in it.

Re: Do we even want the FPL?
The FPL is the BBA’s winter league where you can send your prospects for extra AB’sdrummerJ99 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 8:36 pmI'm sure I should know the answer to this but... What is the FPL?
I always was a great fan of this in the times I was in the BBA, I liked being able to get a look at my prospects from different levels all playing together and I think it did help with their development, or so it seemed to me.
I do agree though that it would perhaps be better respected and used if the timing of it was a bit later. There’s plenty of time to hold it after all the furore of the Landis series has died down
