i would say both of our teams have improved as a result of this (and i did eventually address the pitching issues in subsequent moves).

I stand behind my comments. He's now on the wrong side of 30, isn't clearly the best player at his position (I'd still rather have Winson on Noboru than Gillstrom), and Montreal still picked up 4 guys under 25 who can be stars (and are now BBA ready) plus a cheap RF with 30+ HR power and solid defense.usnspecialist wrote:This is fun to read now....
i think this one falls into the "win/win" deals. Plus i have been considering shifting gillstrom to 2nd, and in that case he is absolutely the best at his position.udlb58 wrote:I stand behind my comments. You've only gotten about 0.2 WAR out of 2B since acquiring Gillstrom and it hasn't hindered you much. Guess it just depends on what you get in FA/trades. Gives you flexibility to add a 3B if the value is there.usnspecialist wrote:I actually thought about putting him at 2B, but I wanted to see what Martinez is capable of. Of course gillstrom getting hurt for an indefinite period of time didn't help...
im strongly considering crossing the #mendozaline next year.[/quote]usnspecialist wrote:You've only gotten about 0.2 WAR out of 2B since acquiring Gillstrom and it hasn't hindered you much. Guess it just depends on what you get in FA/trades. Gives you flexibility to add a 3B if the value is there.

Gonna need you to post the trade with links please. Otherwise I judge that you lost horribly.usnspecialist wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 2:13 pmbumping this because of a discussion we had on slack regarding blockbuster deals. Funny that despite being the oldest player in this deal Gillstrom is STILL the best player in the group 7 seasons later by a comfortable margin.
P.S the #mendozaline worked out very nicely in my favor.
36 WAR in 5+ years for me (not counting this season since he left and came back or his season in NO).
